About Mildew Resistant Shower Curtains

Shower curtains are essential equipment for bathrooms and mildew resistant shower curtains are the way to go. Why? Because being able to resist mildew lowers your costs as you won't have to replace the curtains as often.

Most homeowners go with a vinyl shower curtain liner, but even though they are mildew resistant and cheap, they don't last forever. Plus, they are made out of plastic and are not environmentally friendly. Ever notice the way a new vinyl shower curtain smells? Those are all chemicals off gassing from the plastic and they are not good for your health!

Besides, even with mildew resistant vinyl or plastic shower curtains, eventually they do mold anyway. So consider a fabric shower curtain liner. They are usually made of polyester and are machine washable. Add a little bleach in the wash and you can prolong the life of the polyester shower curtain long past that of a vinyl liner. Plus, you avoid all the chemicals and make your bathroom more environmentally friendly.

There are a wide variety of fabric shower curtains and liners available. Every color under the rainbow as well as plain liners. Shopping online will allow you to find the best mildew resistant shower curtain for your bathroom at the best price.

Featured here are just a few options from online retailers.

Tips on Preventing Mildew in Shower Curtains

It is difficult to completely avoid mildew in shower curtains but these tips will help:

1.To prolong the life of a mildew resistant shower curtain, be sure to pull the curtain across the rod after a shower so it can air out.

2.When taking a bath, flip the curtain up over the rod to keep the ends from soaking in the water.

3.Avoid vinyl plastic liners because they truly do not perform as well as fabric shower curtain liners. Plus, it's so much easier to wash a fabric shower curtain, just throw it in the wash and you're done!

I haven't seen a shower curtain for years! Most Australian homes have a separate glass shower cubicle. If the shower is over the bath, there's usually a glass screen up to around the middle of the bath (which is a bit irritating if you're actually having a bath).

first time I saw the shower curtain when I came in US. They don't give a nice feeling as the space becomes less for movement and you really can't freely move. And I really hate the feeling when the shower curtain touch your body parts as I am always wary of these mildew and mold growing...whatever stuff you may be using. So in total I find the concept of shower curtains a bit unhygienic and it restricts your freedom when you are really want to feel free.Backhome in India, bathrooms are really good and as much spacious as you want them with no separation of any kind.So you can really your free space.
