About Sigg Water Bottles
Bottled water is a waste of money and is killing our ocean. Just 10% of
all plastic bottles are recycled. The rest end up in the ocean or in a
landfill (where it leaches into our ground water).
Right now there is an island in the ocean made entirely of plastic
garbage--the cast offs of bottled water drinkers around the world. This
plastic island is leaching chemicals into the ocean as well as
entrapping and even killing marine life.
A
simple way to combat the problem is to use a Sigg water bottle instead.
Sigg water bottles are made of steel and come in a variety of designs.
Everyone in our family uses them and we love them. Sometimes we even
get compliments because they are just that pretty. (Guys, don't worry.
There are masculine designs available.)
For just $15 to $25 you can stop using bottled water forever.
This is actually cheaper than a month's supply of water and could save
you more than $200 a year. So not only are Sigg Swiss water bottles
good for the environment, they are good for your wallet too. Which is
great news in this economy; save the world and money at the same time!
Where to Buy Sigg Water Bottles
Sigg water bottles are readily available online. In 2007 the company
actually stopped selling their water bottles briefly because they were
overwhelmed with demand. At one point, my $24 water bottle was worth
over $60--people were that desperate to buy them. (I would bet that these water bottles will become collectibles one day.) Fortunately, the
Swiss company has expanded their production capabilities and now sells
their water bottles online and at retail outlets such as Target.
However, if you find a particular design you like, it's a good idea
to order online as Target only carries 4 to 6 different Sigg bottle
designs. There are actually 20 to 25 different designs and it's possible to make Sigg water bottles part of your personal fashion statement.
Sigg Water Bottle Tops
Most Sigg water bottles come with a looped twist top, but a sports top is available as well.
If you lose a cap, it's easy to replace.
Cleaning Sigg Water Bottles
For the most part, Sigg bottles
should only be used for water. The bottle opening is pretty narrow
making deep cleaning a bit of a challenge. Sigg sells special brushes and seltzer-like cleaning tablets for washing their bottles, but they are a bit pricey.
What we usually do is run super hot tap water in the bottle for a
minute or two and give the opening a good wipe with a dishrag. That has
been more than sufficient for the three years that we've used our Sigg
water bottles.
